His short stories have also featured in the anthologies that were used to help the victims of the Great Japan Earthquake and the Tsunami in the year 2011. Other than young adult novels, Alan has also written short fiction stories. His first novel was such a big hit that it went on to feature in the top 10 best books for young adults by ALA in the year 2007. He has written around 8 novels in the young adult category.
Alan Gratz has also had the opportunity to give a lecture at the Czech University. He has written over 6,000 commercials for radio and has also sold other people’s books. Other than writing novels and plays for magazines, Alan also teaches the art of catapult building to middle school students. He specialized in the subject of creative writing and later went on to pursue a Master’s degree in English education. His childhood was quite carefree and humid, after which he joined the University of Tennessee and earned his College Scholars degree. He was born on Januin Knoxville, Tennessee and was brought up in his home of the World’s Fair of 1982 in Knoxville. However, Gratz portrays American troops taunting and mistreating minorities as well. For example, Dee’s friend Sid is an American Jew whose heritage makes him especially enraged by what is happening to Jews in Europe. This discrimination is one that the characters are aware of and that helps motivate them to fight against the Nazis. The largest and most profound discrimination is that of the Nazis against Jews and other peoples throughout their occupied territories.
